KIDStory Saturday - A Day in a Texas Garden

  • Date(s): July 23, 2022

Saturdays at MCB this summer, kids and families can discover Texas history and explore the stories of kids in the Coastal Bend from prehistoric times through today. Participants will gain insight into the daily life of a different group of children -- indigenous inhabitants, French colonists, Spanish missionaries, and early ranchers. Best for kids (and kids at heart!) ages 5+. All supplies provided. Suggested donation $5/participant to assist with supply costs. Pre-registration not required.

July 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. A Day in a Texas Garden: Visitors can take part in activities that would have been part of a kid's typical day in Texas history -- plant a seed to take home, and learn about foraging for your own food and provisions.

Presentations:

11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. - Backyard gardening with Michael Martignoni from Victoria Educational Gardens and Master Gardeners.

12:30 & 2:30 p.m. - Top 12 Native Plants for Victoria/Crossroads Area with Janet McCrae from Victoria Educational Gardens and Master Gardeners.
