Victoria TX Book Festival

Meet authors, listen to presentations, enjoy readings and get your books signed by the authors at this inaugural community-wide event organized by the Museum of the Coastal Bend. Activities will take place at MCB, Texian Books, UHV School of Arts & Science, Victoria College Library, Victoria Public Library. VTXBFschedule IMPORTANT NOTICE Many thanks to all of the authors who have expressed interest in participating in the book festival. Your response has been overwhelming! In our inaugural year, we are celebrating Texas -- the people, the land, and the events that shaped our unique Texas heritage. The 2020 lineup of authors and events reflect this focus, which is in line with the mission of the Museum of the Coastal Bend. With our community partners, we hope to expand the festival in upcoming years to include additional genre. "Open Mic" slots for 5-minute readings are being scheduled on March 7, as time allows, for regional authors and aspiring writers whose genre is outside of our 2020 focus. To participate, please email your proposed reading to museumofthecoastalbendvc@gmail.com, along with your name, address, and contact information. Slots will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis until full. In that Victoria College operates the museum for the benefit of the community at large, material inconsistent with community standards will not be accepted.

John W. Stormont Lecture: The La Belle Project

Join MCB as we celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the discovery of the wreck of La Belle in Matagorda Bay. The archaeological investigations of the shipwreck and the French colony, Fort St. Louis, led to the founding of the Museum of the Coastal Bend. Professional archaeologist James Bruseth leads us through an exciting array of discoveries, excavations, investigations, and publications, in this keynote presentation for the 1st Annual Victoria TX Book Festival.
