Lecture: King Cowboy - historian and folklorist Linda Wolff explores the lost film, King Cowboy, made in Victoria in 1934. The “American Idol” of its time, National Pictures of San Antonio and director Josh Binney were out to discover local talent. The film featured Martha Buhler and Duncan Sutherland Jr. as romantic leads, Father Dan Lanning, Joyce Jordan, Elmer Van Husen, Albert Alkek, George Filley Jr., Duncan Sutherland Sr. and Doc. Campbell, among many other locals.** Thursday, Feb. 23, 5:30pm
Lecture: Independent Filmmaking in Victoria - Anthony Pedone is an independent filmmaker and producer who serves as Executive Director of the Victoria Texas Independent Film Festival, scheduled for Mar. 22–24. Anthony will expound on the current state of film-making in Victoria and the Crossroads region and will discuss the festival mission, selection process and the films selected for screening during the festival. A native Texan, Anthony studied music composition at Southwest Texas State and received his Certificate in Writing Social Commentary from Penn State University in 2005. In 2008 he directed his first feature film, The Why, an award-winning film. Anthony recently produced and shot the feature film, Roundball, in Victoria. Anthony also serves as Executive Director of the Texas Artists’ Cultural Alliance-Victoria Chapter.** Thursday, March 1, 5:30pm

Lecture: The Buckeye Knoll Archeological Site near Victoria, TX: Insights into the Ancient Cultures of Eastern North America by Dr. Robert Ricklis. This lecture will be held at VC’s Johnson Symposium and will be followed by a wine/cheese reception at MCB. Fee $5/non-member.* Thursday, March 22 5:30pm
